On Feb 3rd, 2024 at around 5:00pm EST, "The Happening" went live with ~ 73,000 names being released from reserved status. Many premium names were immediately opened such as: .code/ .mail/ .web/ .login/ .aa/ .xd/ and thousands more.
Andrew Lee, one of the founders of Handshake commented on Twitter that "I’m very proud to see the Handshake community organize a soft fork (aka The Happening) without any guidance or support from the founding team".
